Your Host Reese Boyd and Producer Glenn Dye continue their discussion of the Coronavirus pandemic. Reese is joined on the show by Oran Smith with the Palmetto Promise Institute, to discuss options for dealing with Santee Cooper. Carter Smith, Candidate for SC Senate District 33, also joins the program to share his platform and why he is running for the State Senate.
In this episode, Reese Boyd discusses his latest mountain biking adventures at the Hulk Mountain Bike Park in Hory County, and safe trail etiquette for walkers and runners at the Hulk Bike/Run Park.

Coronavirus Update:

Discussion of current case numbers and fatality rates and the apparent "flattening of the curve."  Discussion on ongoing social distancing and other countermeasures and closures; Reese and Glenn discuss the many small businesses and families that are being devastated by the shut-down of the economy.  New anti-body study suggests that COVID-19 may be far more widespread than we have been led to believe.  Discussion of the ever-shifting fatality numbers suggested by the various models.

Santee Cooper:
Oran Smith, PhD, with the Palmetto Policy Institute, joins the show to discuss PPI's work on the question of what to do with South Carolina's state-owned utility, including the billions of dollars of debt that have been incurred by the utility in its effort to build two nuclear power plants at the VC Summer facility in Jenkinsville, SC.  Reese discusses his thoughts on the problems with Santee Cooper and how that points to the need for legislative reform and further government restructuring in South Carolina.

Carter Smith:

Carter Smith is a candidate for SC Senate District 33 and he joins us on the program to talk about why  he is running for the state senate.

SC Primaries:

Reese Boyd discusses the status of the SC Primary scheduled for June 9.  He also discusses why he believes the primary should be postponed because of the current Coronavirus pandemic and candidate's inability to campaign by most traditional means.

We also take questions from listeners and leave you with some parting wisdom for the week!
